1/2/2012 9:03:22 AM ATTENTION HUNTERS: In January 2012, Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCBQ) Fish and Wildlife will be conducting a survey of hunters that is very important for wildlife management and hunting on MCBQ. The survey will help MCBQ biologists understand how hunters view the hunting program and their own hunting experiences on MCBQ. A random sample of hunters will be chosen to complete the survey. If you are selected, you will receive an email or postal letter in the latter part of January asking you to please complete the survey. Your responses to the survey will be very important as the accuracy of any conclusions we make depends on all opinions being represented. Therefore, your participation is needed and very valuable, and we would greatly appreciate you taking a few minutes to complete the survey if you receive one. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration with this study. Thank you, MCBQ Fish & Wildlife
11/18/2011 1:52:01 PM Due to 10-day war training event and other military excercises, most hunting areas are closed through Monday, November 21. More areas will become available on Tuesday, much better on Wednesday, and nearly everything should be open Thursday-Saturday. Remember, Friday and Saturday, 25-26 November, are either sex (doe or buck) hunting days. All other days next week are buck only in the firearms areas.
11/11/2011 10:41:01 AM MCBQ deer gun season opens Saturday, November 19, 2011. As background checks are being conducted on all hunters without militray, law enforcemnet, or CAC identification, we advise that all hunters allow ample time to register to hunt on base and process background checks (at least 3-5 business days). Blaze orange requirements will also go into effect West of I-95 on Saturday the 19th.
11/1/2010 8:32:12 AM Hunters take notice that all hunting reservations not picked up by 0600 the day of the hunt and those made on the current hunt day that are not claimed within two hours will be cleared from the system. Please plan accordingly so you don't lose your spot.
10/13/2010 8:33:23 AM Hunters please note that if you call the HTS number and it rings more than 4 times you should hang up and redial the number. Thanks for your patience; we are working to rectify this problem.
9/30/2010 6:08:08 AM • Making reservations when hunting with a minor or non-hunter: After you make your own reservation, you will be prompted by the HTS recording to press 2 to make another hunter reservation or press 3 to make a reservation for a minor or non-hunter. Listen to the recording until prompted to press 3 and then make that selection. Enter the base license number for the minor or non-hunter followed by the # key. HTS will then prompt you to reserve additional minors or non-hunters or press # to return to the main menu. • Hunters accompanying a youth or non-hunter: The hunter tracking system requires the swiping of these passes also to inform the game check station of total hunter numbers currently checked out to the training areas. Passes will be printed for youth and non-hunter and need to be treated as you would a set of hunter passes.
9/30/2010 6:06:57 AM • Successful hunters will no longer be permitted to dispose of animal carcasses in the dumpster by the weigh-in shed. All hunters are encouraged to field-dress deer whenever possible. • Any animal remains that need to be discarded should be place into the unlined bins located in the skinning shed which will be disposed of under the guidance of, or by, NREA personnel.
